Personal and Behavioral Characteristics of CEOs and Boards of Directors: Impact on Performance
The goal of the project in 2021:
The long-term project of Corporate Finance Center of 2021-2023 is aimed at investigating the characteristics of top management by highlighting the roles of CEO and chief financial officer (CFO) and the characteristics of board members in terms of their behavioral strategies and in terms of their personal characteristics. The latter form the intellectual capital of a company's core people, and therefore allow to analyze the impact of this original resource on decisions, strategies and policies of companies, and their results.
The objectives of the project:
- Collecting non-financial data, applying text analysis and the necessary programming tools to form a profile of top management (CEO, CFO) and board members and identify behavioral anomalies, such as self-confidence, status quo effect, anchoring effect, and others, as well as collecting databases on the intellectual capital of company's core persons;
- Collecting financial data on companies to study the performance of companies and the impact on them of the studied personal and behavioral characteristics of top management and boards of directors;
- Development of research models on personal and behavioral profiles of top management, members of the Board of Directors to distinguish the investment horizon, leadership roles in similar companies, their role in the strategic process, risk taking, launching innovations; achieving sustainable development goals; promoting and using non-financial reporting to develop strategies, digitalizing the company;
- Conducting the first stages of (pilot) research.
