On March 12, a research seminar of the Corporate Finance Centre was held on the topic of "Retail Investors Expectations and Systematic Investing Performance: Evidence from the Telegram Data."

On March 12, at a laboratory seminar, research fellow A.F. Tomtosov presented preliminary results from his paper "Retail Investors Expectations and Systematic Investing Performance: Evidence from the Telegram Data," written jointly with A. Babynin, A. Shumilin, and M. Chernigovsky.
Aleksandr began his presentation by describing the current state of research on the topic: current research in the field of private investor behavior analysis focuses primarily on analyzing market participant sentiment, dividing social media messages into three groups: positive, negative, and neutral (Cookson et al., 2024, JFE). Other research focuses on analyzing market participants' portfolio composition (Balasubramaniam et al., 2023, JF).
Then, descriptive statistics of collected messages from Telegram channels and exchange forums were presented. The author presented methods for preprocessing messages using large-scale model languages. In conclusion, preliminary results were presented on the investment preferences of private investors and their impact on the results of systemic investing in the Russian stock market.
